EPA Launches National Water Conservation Campaign
On July 21st, 2010, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) WaterSense program kicked off it's "We're for Water" campaign
to encourage Americans to make simple choices that save water. The program, in collaboration with its partner, American Water, will
spread the word about saving money by traveling cross-country, stopping at national landmarks and educating consumers about
WaterSense labeled products. WaterSense products use about 20% less water than standard models. For more information on the
We're for Water road trip go to www.epa.gov/watersense/wereforwater. Take the "I'm for Water pledge" at www.epa.

Grant updates:
We are happy to announce that the ZWP has received another two years of funding from the McKnight Foundation! This funding will help
the ZWP continue to educate the citizens of the watershed about water quality issues and how to restore and protect our valuable resources.
Zumbro Watershed Partnership was recently recommended by the Legislative-Ctitizens Committee on Minnesota Resources (LCCMR) to
receive a $150,000 grant from the Environment and Natural Resource Trust Fund for a project to prioritize critical restoration and protection
sites in the Zumbro Watershed. Stay tuned for more information...
In February 2010, the ZWP received a $5,000 Conservation Partnership Grant from Minnesota Waters to provide outreach on the
shoreland buffer rule and the benefits of agricultural buffers to shoreland landowners throughout the watershed. The grant will wrap-up this
September.
The ZWP has been awarded the MN Pollution Control Agency's Surface Water Assessment Grant (SWAG) for 2009 and 2010. We are
currently in our second year of monitoring of nutrients, bacteria, temperature and clarity in the cold-water trout streams of the Zumbro
Watershed.
